Abstrakt: The aim of this study was to establish the effects of trade liberalization and gender inequality a case study of Mexico. The objective of the study was to establish the relationship between trade liberalization and women roles in international business, to examine how trade liberalization affects employment and wages of women and to identify the trade liberalization policies and how they affect gender inequality. The study utilized the secondary data from the World Bank indicators from 2008 and 2016. Three regression models were generated to establish the effects of trade liberalization on gender inequality. The findings showed that female education (EDUF) produced an increase in the gender development index (GDI). Furthermore, increase in Gross Domestic Product Growth and number of imports, projected an increase in the female to male participation rate(FMPR) therefore, reducing the gender gap and providing opportunities for women in leadership positions.
